Lawrence C. Becker is a Fellow of Hollins University, and Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at the College of William & Mary. His philosophical monographs and articles include work on topics in contemporary ethical theory, stoicism, social, political, and legal philosophy, as well as the role of human agency in practical affairs.  Becker was an associate editor of the journal Ethics from 1985-2000, and the editor, with Charlotte B. Becker, of two editions of the Encyclopedia of Ethics.
